MA Delegation Digest 5/10 – 5/16/14
Sen. Elizabeth Warren
Sen. Ed Markey
- Senator Markey announced he (along with Sen. Hatch) intends to add new student privacy protections. Proposed changed would to prohibit schools from using personal information on students for marketing, and give parents the right to review and correct any personal information on their children collected by third party vendors.
- Senator Markey was one keynote speaker at the MIT Forum on Advanced Manufacturing Innovation. The forum was part of an administration program to advance manufacturing and add jobs in the industry.
Rep. Jim McGovern (MA-2)
Rep. Niki Tsongas (MA-3)
Rep. John Tierney (MA-6)
- Fundraising is heating up in the race for the 6th: John Tisei (R) had raised $753,900 by the end of March, and recently, supported with a $350,000 ad buy from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Tierney has raised $1.3 million in the same timeframe, but Tisei has the advantage of not having a primary challenger, allowing him to focus on the general election. Democratic challenger Seth Moulton reported raising more than $1 million in funding, primarily through online tools that make it easier for out-of-state funders to support the campaign.
Rep. Mike Capuano (MA-7) and Rep. Stephen Lynch (MA-8)
