Massachusetts Fair Share

We stand up for a Massachusetts where everyone gets a fair shot, does and pays their fair share, and plays by the same rules.

Jay Epstein: Newton’s kids shouldn’t be unequal by Kindergarten

Check out this Op-Ed printed in the Newton Tab by our every own intern Jay Epstein:

Newton — Every child should get a fair shot, and that begins with a quality education – and as researchers learn more about the way kids learn, the more they are focused on the learning that happens before Kindergarten. I was fortunate enough to go to a pre-Kindergarten program called Great Beginnings in Newton, and I think it’s time for every child to get a similar opportunity.

On Nov. 13, Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), and reps. George Miller (D-Calif.) and Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.) announced the Strong Start for America’s Children, an extensive bill that expand early learning dramatically, particularly pre-K. This bi-partisan bill aims to eliminate the achievement gap, a gap that can already be entrenched before kids even start public Kindergarten.
